Author said the series is approaching the end, pushing towards the finale (source: author's twitter, mika yamamori). It's so sudden because it feels like there are so many things that can still be fleshed out but I guess what's gonna happen in the next few chapters is Yoi will reject fcking oji-sh**-kun once again, Kohaku listens to his bro's heartbroken love story and gets inspired to not repeat his bro's regret, runs to Yoi to share the good news that he's going to stay and gets together again, timeskip graduation, Yoi studying to become a vet, Kohaku getting a job, and living together happily ever after.
