@Venaldre tbf id say hed being very human. Just as to Laura her father abandoned her without a word but what to her became an empty promise for her entire life and she had to suffer the unfair effects of her parents love and union. Dalton had seen his favourite person extensively talk about his beloved daughter that he was saving up to provide for to the point it killed him. Said daughter that he had seen the man make gifts and send letters to. Both are right in their feelings. Just as Laura does not have to move on from the hurt her fathers absence cause, Dalton can feel hurt for the person he was close to being blamed when he himself witnessed the sincerity of the fathers feelings. Neither of them are to blame, besides the Pendleton a**hole

@Dift Hunter although I get what you’re saying, I still personally think he's being unfair. If you're saying his reactions are more from the shock of her never receiving the letters and he's just maybe rambling to himself because he's processing it: I'll give you that THAT is very human.
but if you're telling me his reaction to her telling him that she never recieved the letters and he doubles down with his "how in the world could you ever think that?" My dude, she just told you how. She never knew he existed. That's just immature, especially given how deep his feelings go for her. And what I mean by immature is that he can't see past his view to begin to empathize and see her view. He's almost denying her her viewpoints because he had the truth, and she never denied him his, just gave her own truth.
