Easier to do things if the world doesn’t realize you are around (people aren’t as vigilant)
dismissing the supernatural as mere make believe is a byproduct of science. After the theory of evolution which disputed creation became widely accepted, science took precedence over religion as people got tired of hearing things that had no proof at the time (this was also in part a generational shift). The problem with science is the supernatural can’t be observed or proven with our current level of science (its possible we may never achieve a level that can). That’s why supernatural feats are often called miracles
