sometimes, when someone harbors rage/frustration or other feelings under the umbrella of resentment to an extreme, they may desire others to feel the same way. There is a saying misery loves company. It's not uncommon for someone who is hurting to enjoy a fictional character suffering worse (or even someone in real life they don't know). This is normal, though personally, I recommend seeking help from an adult you can trust or a mental health professional, because that lingering feeling is like a poison (for the mind/soul) that will eat a person up and warp unhealthy tendencies.
Spoiler!
In my high school days, I was bullied and came to shun socializing with peers except when necessary. I resented the tactics which are modest in comparison to what we see in Korean manhwa, but still it was hard for my high school self. I would take out my rage by being a murdering psychopath in games that promoted violence and carnage and vent a ton of stress so I woudn't have to worry about losing my cool in school (because I knew it was only temporary)
@CuriousReader, One time my bestfriend made a suicidal joke, And my teacher heard it. And through that my best friend was suicidal , And she put her with a social worker at my school.
that's what misery loves company means. Social Science experts say comparing ourselves to people with worse situations than ourselves can be a temporary stress relief. That's why you see some people laugh at situations that would not be funny if they happened to you or someone you care about. In fact, some define comedy as tragedy happening to someone else. Some works who label themselves comedy do play on this troupe, using a character as the scapegoat for laughs, someone is the brunt of jokes and generally unfortunate throughout the story, etc.
