I know in the end he'll turn back into a man and they'll enjoy their BL relationship, but he really doesn't seem that attached to his gender anymore, it would be interesting to see an alternate ending where he stays a woman

@Eviscerated Archangel Imo he still very much identifies as a man and wants to go back, he's just resigned to the fact that a m/m relationship would be hard to navigate in their country.
But it's always important to do things for the sake of how you feel inside rather than how easy your partner/the relationship feels, bcos good relationships are built on people who are secure and happy in themselves. (My opinion anyway)
