They didn't do a great job alluding to that Aaron has improved tremendously. They should have shown way more that his abilities were locked behind his inaccessible memories throughout this event. Instead we get, oh he's losing, some vague concept about needing to forget the past to compound your efforts or some bullshit, and then just claps this guy that Han said he'd lose to 9 out 10 times.
These people do not age, they have been pulled from their failed timelines/worlds for this game. It's been shown that time moves faster within the game than outside. The idea that these people cannot endure decades or centuries (or more) of time elapsing suggests that any town at a high enough level would have tons of its inhabitants going through psychotic breaks constantly. Just some thoughts. End of stupid rant.
