I dropped this thought more than a few chapters ago, but I initially thought the the duke figured that Ayesha wasn't in love with him at all. That thought compounded when he picked up the napkin with his son's face.
I thought he agreed to marry her for some other reason we would have found out later. Cause we know that the ML always has the upper hand in knowing what's going on, having a vast info network, with the ability to read ppl. But, turns out that duke is just dumb and narcissistic 🤷🏾
