@Scaramouche eventhough Isagi is the MC, the story won't be interesting and exciting without the supporting characters whether they are ally or rival. It's not like it happened the first time. supporting characters in other mangas like haikyuu, etc was shown their backstory, too and how they will play a crucial role for the MC's overall growth. I agree that I got bored reading Snuffy's backstory since it felt repetitive. It was already shown just a few chapters back and then shown again when it was still fresh in my mind, it felt like, 'ugh, not again,' But c'mon, Barou has one of the most interesting story out there in bluelock, you can see how much he respected Isagi and how he put Isagi in a pedestal as someone to defeat and that hunger drives him to throw away the trainings and lessons he learned in Ubers. People think Isagi is weak or his progress is slow but in the eyes of others like Barou and Kaiser and maybe even Noel Noa, Isagi is a sleeping monster.
Why are they in Bluelock, isn't it because of egoism? But others simply accepted the fact that not all of them can be the best in the world and decided to step back and play as support. How many are still fighting for the title as "THE BEST STRIKER" ? Not many... Isagi may feel discourage once in a while but his will never falters. He has the guts and the ego.
So, I'm here not just because I'm hype about Hiori, I'm here waiting patiently for Isagi to explode and show the monster in him.
