That seems unnecessary. Humans are about to struggle with extinction regardless, and unlike the tree, they lost a massive amount of their fighting force so what's the risk of just leaving them alone?
The ocean seems to be where you want to focus your attention on.
@Prinzinc Wouldn't you be angry if humans just decided to eradicate all your companions including yourself despite not haven't made any moves/intentions on attacking them but all for the satisfaction of relieving their fear of the unknown and being attacked despite not having any evidence/proof you would?
@CT3421 Angry, yes, however a fantastic way to double your losses is to keep doing the same things that you did previously. Emotional catharsis isn't worth it if you are bound to experience the same things as before. A stalemate is a far better solution than active war due to being emotionally compromised. Acting out like that is exactly how you lose everything... again.
@CT3421 BTW, I've read ahead already and I'm wrong in the respect of how the story turns out, however that's only because new information is added after this moment. With the information available at this moment to the tree, this was a bad idea.
