Her mother did not leave them first. She mightve left even before really dieing. I can only imagine what she endured before and after giving birth to her daughter. She couldn't escape him and he probably beat her as well. The only way she could escape was through death. Which isn't betrayal as she's insinuating just a mentally ill person deciding what the last nail in the coffin would be.
