@NokkoGamma Really. Most of the time when I see an epic figure from Japan used in manga, it's a mighty swordsman with leadership and strategic talents, not a g**. Oda Nobunaga's come up a few times, and for Korea "Goryo era swordsman/swordsmanship" as a stand-in for Cheok Jungyeon. (One source I read claimed Cheok had a friend with some really weird habits, so he isn't that well known.) Even the major gods of either don't see much screen time, even though Izanami, goddess of death, could be used, and if you're gonna use the Norse Hel anyway...
The biggest issue isn't their gods aren't used even when it would be respectful to do so. I can see not wanting to use them in situations where they'd be mocked, but when they're decent and dignified figures, why not?
There's one where the g** of the moon, Tsukuyomi, shows up, but I can't remember the title. The MC's parents originally lived on a fantasy world, but needed to escape, so the goddess of their world and Tsukuyomi made a deal that the couple could escape to Earth and would one day send one of their children back to the fantasy world. Tsukuyomi tells the MC of the deal and grants him some powers, but the goddess gets all pissy because she considers the MC "ugly" (yes, he's plain, but not ugly) and dumps him in a wasteland.
