Not sure why it took 10 chapters to realize this is a Japanese Male Isekai MC.
999 times out of a 1,000 they'll be milque toast, spineless, and overly kind to a fault. To the point if you read any Isekai and the MC is male. This type of chara is one you should expect.
But at least you found out pretty early on that Japanese Male MC's in Isekai aren't your cup of tea.
I tend (tended) read a LOT of manga in 8 to 10 situations you are right. I just wrote my frustration because my streak of those MC's was high at the moment.
I decided to take a long vacation from most Japanese media, they started losing their spirit around 90x but. The infantilization and feminazation started around at that time but it was minimal and as the years went by they started to increase those 2 factors and at around 2010-2015 (roughly) they made a major turn.
Can definitely understand that. Even I need a break from Manga every few years because of that frustration too. Like, I do love Manga, but dmn can it be frustrating.
Mostly spend my days nowadays binging Korean Manhwas. Where the only frustrating thing is 90% of male readers trying to tie Solo Leveling to every story ... even when the tie is superficial or non-existent. Or Villainess Otome Manhwas, with few frustrating bits.
Also yeah. Japanese Manga, especially their adult stuff really has taken really weird turns this last decade. Doesn't help that their minimum age of consent is 13 (and also how you end up with stories of an MC marrying a 13 year old like Kono Suba and Mega Meme.)).
Still. Hope you found a good genre / series to follow while taking a break from Japan being Japan. And Happy New Years ^_^.
Ty mate. Yeah and plenty. Chinese some Korean and simple books (books are the best for logical and mature content recalibration).
Recentely started binging on VN's (and AVN's) never liked Japanese made Visual Novels but then there was a boom of VN's made by non-Japanese people and it's incredible. (A lot of trash, especially in AVN section but it's new and fresh and good counter balance to JP content)
You're welcome. And what are AVNs? Personally if you want to read some good web novels for free. Go to Novel Updates.
It's where I both read new Light Novels / Web Novels, as well as where I go for Manhwa Spoilers.
As for Visual Novels. Never really got into those, but I do like JRPGs, and things like Quantum Break (if you never played it. Do so, and get the TV Episode free download that ties in between episodes. Your choices and special actions done in Game, determines what happens in the future and has effects on the TV Episodes. All in all, it's an amazing take on time travel and time paradoxes, while really making you feel like your choices matter.
Detroit Becoming Human is also a good story based game where your actions shape the entire flow of the game and it's outcomes.)
AVN = Adult Visual Novel
As for Light novels, yeah i know but i'm taking a sabatical from anything japanese. There are some good novels i still need to read but just that Japanese mentality (thinking, troupes, cliches and actions) started to annoy me.
Visual Novels though? I avoid Japanese VN's (AVNS). Mostly non-asian. I don't like Japanese Visual.
You can even see a lot of Visual Novels in steam now, they are a great alternative to books, it's like reading a book but actually having a narrative choice.
As for JRPGS them i actually do play (even though i took vacation form other stuff).
Thank you for Quantum Break advice will actually look it up seems interesting.
Lastly, Detroit Becoming Human, planning to play it 100%. Same as i played Fahrenheit as it came out and sadly missed out on heavy rain due to them making console exclusive (at that time).
