Got too obsessed with that rock so I did my research:
In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was the founder and king of Ephyra. A clever and ruthless king, Sisyphus tricked and murdered travelers visiting his city.
He became famous for cheating death twice. As punishment, the gods tasked him to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity.

@BeyondParasolTrees Through the classical influence on contemporary culture, tasks that are both laborious and futile are therefore described as Sisyphean.
Hounds on the other hand, is a type of hunting dog used by hunters to track or chase prey.
So is it "Hunting dogs of a cunning king" or "chasing dogs of a futile task"
