It might be justifiable if it was only for a few months but he had many chances and opportunities to check up on his during those years, and guess what? He didn't. No matter what his excuse or explanation is, his negligence and ignorance towards his relationship is the cause of Florence's 20 years of traumatic marriage. He was not with his wife both physically and emotionally, so for to him expect that she won't get tired of that process is a luxury. Mind you she didn't cheat even though their routine is that way. Though it may have come off rude, the FL didn't do anything wrong trying to settle for a proper treatment. Wanting to get out of a invalidating marriage is the most normal thing.
