it wasn't specifically shown but author has been hinting and foreshadowing that He Tian would leave behind the friend group, including Xiao Mo eventually.

If you reread, you can actually find subtle mentioning abt him going away in the future. There was also a chapter when Xiao Mo stole a glance into He Tian’s notebook and found ‘would he be sad, if I leave?’ written on one of the pages. 

Also, If I remember correctly, there was a (future event) Christmas extra chapter before, where He Tian visited Xiao Mo and he said smth along the lines ‘I’ve worked so hard to return and you don't even miss me?' 

I'm not exactly sure when he'd leave but it's probably coming sooner that we'd expect.

@Baek Eunyung The reason why, despite also being the main characters, Jian Yi & Zhan Zhengxi aren't shown as much in the highschool arc is probably because their relationship progresses more after the said arc. Unlike He Tian & Xiao Mo who will be separated after the highschool arc ends. But of course, He Tian would return eventually since we're alrd seeing glimpses of the future now so don't be too saddened about it 😺😺

@Noneedotknow Remember that they are no longer high school students here. Mo works and they're already a grown up. This is the time skip after He Tian left Mo for some years. Mo kept the things related to He Tian in a sealed box because Mo wants to forget about He Tian cuz he was hurt after being left behind with little explanation. But Mo can't let He Tian go easily, so he decided to keep the mementos that reminds him of He Tian. (he prolly taped He Tians's face to spite him). That's why after He Tian saw those contents in the box, he felt regretful and guilty for all the pain and waiting he made Mo felt all those years.

@Priyanka Magar really? But it's definitely was hinted many times before in the past chapters. Try finding it on tt, because if you're not able to find it here then you'll certainly be able to bcuz of edits.
