@Ur_Nuna The problem is the kid has clearly been raised to be a pa** of his mother's family. The best MC could do would be to change his sentence to exile and have him quasi-imprisoned in another land. Otherwise all kinds of factions, urged by the mother's relatives, will continue to cause trouble.

@Ur_Nuna tell that to an inquisitor and they will tell you,
"Innocence proves nothing"
And will then proceed to burn you alongside him. Just saying
