pretty sure it's what he got from the goddess is what lets him revive, sunder is from the death guy. The only thing is how his soul was bound to the goard. I know he took over the body shortly after the real Vermil drank the poison from the goard, but I don't recall him going through the goard.

I guess since the Death guy (sunder) lets him also "Bind" (which let him puppet his corpse for a bit at a huge cost (soul damage)) I'm guessing the secondary goddesses ability will be soul recovery/repair (So resurrection, and soul repair) which would explain why his soul already recovers magnitudes faster than anyone else.
