Comment on ChapterWet Sand - Chapter 38
Ian and Tj literally have 2 decades of history. Ian is not going to be able to sever that tie overnight. Their relationship is rooted in toxicity, was never official and tied to the very gang Ian wanted out of so badly. For Ian, staying with Tj will put him right back on that hamster wheel he worked so hard to get out of. I won't romanticize Ian's relationship with Tj, because it's truthfully far from it. Tj's feelings for Ian are also borderline obsession (which Ian is aware of). He had ppl follow him, can be quite manipulative and devious. This is the same man who hired 2 men to attack Ian because he didn't want him to go to Malibu to become a successful Motocross athlete, which ultimately led to Ian falling off a balcony and almost dying (ending his career). This is the same man involved in keeping Ian close by tying him down with an obscene amount of money when he wanted out, thinking he would break and stay in the gang. This is the same man who still sees women on the side to save face as an underboss in the organization. This is the same man who wants Ian back in a gang he no longer wants to be a part of (and is having cronies on the side give him odd, illegal jobs still). This repetitive toxic behavior has gone on for far too many years, resulting in Ian getting hurt over and over again, which is why I will never trust Tj and I think their relationship is broken beyond repair.

@Zarathustra  Did you actually read this story? The truth is that TJ is not the villain you make him out to be.
Let's start with the fact that his subordinates followed Ian because Jamie Lee is trying to harm him. Also, do not forget it is thanks to TJ’s influence that no one in the gang touches Ian, although they consider him a traitor. Is it bad that TJ is trying to protect his loved one?
Now about motocross. TJ's parents died in a car accident, so of course he was scared that his loved one could repeat their fate. The hired men were supposed to just restrain him, but a fight broke out and they fell from the balcony. It was an accident and Ian understands that TJ didn't mean anything bad to him. Of course, he should have just admitted his worries and fears, but due to a traumatic past, communication is not a strong point for the two of them.
If we talk about the situation with money, then nothing is known yet. We saw Ian go beyond self-defense and brutally kill his subordinate and was devastated. Prison is obviously the only way to prevent a kind person like Ian from doing something to himself out of unbearable guilt. And even so, TJ ensured that it was a short term.
It is also unknown who ordered the attack on Ian, so it is logical that TJ wants to tie him to himself so that he has the opportunity to protect Ian. We see that he does not restrict his freedom and gives him easy work so that Ian has money to live on.
@Zarathustra

The accusation that TJ has relationships with women is completely incomprehensible to me, especially when Ian does the same. Moreover, we were never shown that he was actually sleeping with them. Remember how after the breakup he couldn’t even do it with the guy from the bar because he was only thinking about Ian.

So maybe you should stop putting all sorts of labels on TJ? Would a person who wanted to harm Ian cry out of a desperate desire to help a loved one who was taking drugs and ruining his life?
So just try not to look at this story so superficially and accept the fact that TJ is not a bad guy (by the way, this is the official statement of the author). Of course, TJ and Ian's relationship is complicated, but the truth is that they love each other and care for each other as best they can.

@Rheia Bravo, wonderful speech with which I completely agree! It would be great if someone could pin this comment so that everyone (before judging the characters) could think about the meaninglessness of their accusationspepe sticker

@Rheia wow your arguments made me think about a lot... i certainly never considered tj a bad guy but now he has opened up a different side for me... also i should probably re-read this manhwa and understand better the mafia showdowns... tysm...
@Rheia "his subordinates followed Ian because Jamie Lee is trying to harm him."
They discovered Jamie's plan now, that's why Chiwoon assigned protection, but in the first chapters we saw that Tj did it to keep tabs on what Ian was doing. We even saw Tj sitting in his car spying on him. If he had protection back then, they would have seen him meeting with the fake ID guy.

"thanks to TJ’s influence no one in the gang touches Ian, although they consider him a traitor."
The only one that considers Ian a traitor is Yangji, we've seen how the other members (Jason, Chiwoon, Daniel, etc) not only respect Ian, they care about him.

"The hired men were supposed to just restrain him, but a fight broke out"
Don't you think a guy like Ian would put up a fight? How do you think they were supposed to restrain him?

"TJ's parents died in a car accident, so of course he was scared that his loved one could repeat their fate."
Ian had been riding as an amateur for quite some time but Tj only decided to stop him when Ian had the chance to LEAVE and become a pro. If he was afraid of Ian riding he wouldn't be building a garage for motorcycles in the new house.

"Prison is obviously the only way to prevent a kind person like Ian from doing something to himself out of unbearable guilt."
Tj never respected Ian's decision to leave the gang, he wants him back in, even though he saw how unbearable it was for him.

"We see that Tj does not restrict Ian's freedom and gives him easy work so that Ian has money to live on."
Hiring thugs to forcefully stop him from competing, sending him to prison, putting an enormous debt on him, etc, is restricting his freedom.
Ian has no money to live on because he's killing himself to pay the debt Tj put on him.
@Rheia "it is logical that TJ wants to tie him to himself so that he has the opportunity to protect Ian."
The only reason Ian is in danger is because he's tied to Tj. Jamie is not interested in Ian, he wants to use him to get to Tj. And Ian isn't a princess that needs protection, he was a boss of a dangerous gang, a prodigy and when his subordinate tried to kill him we saw that he's more than capable of protecting himself.

" If we talk about the situation with money, then nothing is known yet."
Tj: he'll find it hard to survive on clean work, I'll tie him down with money.
Jason: he'll kill himself trying to pay.
Tj: I know, I'm just buying time.
Tj thought Ian would break and come back to the gang, he's still expecting that.

"The accusation that TJ has relationships with women is completely incomprehensible to me"
(Jason: I heard you broke up with that woman.)
We also saw another woman leaving his hotel room smelling like him.

Look, buddy, I could go on, but I can't explain everything to you. I strongly recommend you to reread wetsand so you can get a better understanding of the big picture.
@Zarathustra  I have a feeling you just don't understand what you read. Let's start (again) with the fact that even the author constantly states that TJ is not a villain, but for some reason, pathetic haters continue to distort the plot and accuse him of all mortal sins.
Jason had been sick for a long time, so TJ understood that Jamie was scheming behind their backs. Someone had already prepared an attack on Ian before, and as we know, the culprit has not yet been caught, so there are clearly reasons to protect him. And where did the information come from that TJ was spying on Ian in the car? He just drove up to his house and saw him talking to some guy, so he decided not to interfere and left. But even if your words were true, it would be understandable, because TJ really, with the help of his subordinates, checks the environment of his loved one, and as we see, this is the right decision, because Jamie is trying to get to Ian through Chris and Joseph.
Now about the traitor, accident, car accident, etc. Jason is really worried about Ian, because he raised this child. Daniel himself is not a model of decency and even cheats on his wife with another guy, so why should he care about some kind of betrayal? Chiwoon clearly guesses about his boss’s feelings, but even he does not deny Yangi’s accusations (“I’m not afraid of this traitor”), so everyone can come to the conclusion what the gang thinks about Ian.
I can’t know what “restrain” meant, but it definitely wasn’t physical injury, and those guys admitted that they didn’t expect such an outcome (“Him falling from the second floor really was an accident”). Most likely, it was necessary to give him a lot of alcohol, as Ian himself said that when the fight broke out he was very drunk.
@Zarathustra  TJ never liked that Ian taking part in such a dangerous sport, judging by Jason's reaction. The flashbacks showed what a trigger any vehicle is for TJ. Even now he never drives a car, which means psychological trauma still plays a huge role in his life. Ian is his dearest person, so it’s not surprising that TJ is so afraid of losing him, especially in a car/motorcycle accident (after all, that’s how he became an orphan). So, yes, TJ was wrong for not talking to Ian about his fears, but he certainly didn't mean him any harm.
I already wrote this, but many motives are still not revealed. Maybe TJ should have respected Ian's decision to take drugs and just watch his loved one die?
I also don't want to repeat myself about prison and money, but Ian brutally killed his subordinate, although that guy was trying to crawl away, and this is no longer considered self-defense. TJ understood how much Ian blamed himself for this, so he asked to give Ian a short sentence, which was later reduced. If Ian had not received at least some punishment, he would not have been able to forgive himself. Moreover, the person who ordered Ian’s murder was still unknown, so TJ needed to “buy time” to search for him andand also protect his dear one.
@Zarathustra  Your words “the only reason Ian is in danger is because he's tied to Tj” once again show that you do not read this manhwa or do not understand what is happening there. Just remember Jamie's words: “Several years ago, someone recklessly made a move on Youngwoo Shin first and was destroyed by Taejoon Oh. If we don’t want to end up like them, we best lay low. That Taejoon Oh sometimes does the unpredictable...". So is there really no threat to Ian? And yes, the fact that TJ wants to protect Ian does not make him a princess, it just means that there is a person who cares about him.
I think there is no point in explaining anything further to you for the obvious reason that your comprehension skills are really poor, but "I strongly recommend you to reread wetsand so you can get a better understanding of the big picture".
@Zarathustra  You ate and left no crumbs 👑
People be doing mental gymnastics to justify all the horrible things Tj has done to Ian.
Nah man I want Ian out of that twisted relationship asap, he will never have a peaceful life if he stays with Tj.
