I usually don’t type but yes, i genuinely do understand both sides. I understand that Song-Rik has lost his mom, his dad is physically abusive, he is not good financially. I understand that blondie still in comparison does have fall back, he still has an opportunity to have a relationship with his dad and mom, he is better off financially too; Although in no way does this garner Song-Rik’s strong reaction to bully him (aka sharing information Blondie trusted him with and being a bystander). I understand that Song-Rik is also most likely reacting this way from his trauma of abandonment, of wanting blondie to just choose him and him alone. Although Blondie never cut him off as much as it might feel that way to him. If anything blondie is also reacting this way based of his own trauma response, as much as he hates his father and as much as his father has mentally abused him and even his mom neglecting this has affected him, because of his trauma since being a child, he will always want to (as a growing kid) have a relationship with his dad because that is all he’s be taught to work up to. I dislike the argument of being ok with Song-Rik’s actions simply because he also has trauma. I also hate how he compares their traumas. Like someone else said, comparing tragedies and trauma is stupid because yes, we are all experiencing different things, and just because someone is inherently experiencing something worse, doesn’t diminish another’s persons pain or makes a situation less painful. I also dislike how Song-Rik has had this mindset since the beginning. Before this, before him admitting to simply feeling “pity and disgust” for Blondie’s ‘insignificant trauma’, we have seen how when Blondie first admitted his trauma to him in the nurse’s office, he already was diminishing him by comparing how he has it worse so he should “stop complaining”. (Again which is only confirmed here when he also diminishes his bullying and his friends bullying to simply “teasing”.
I understand, again, that he is also hurting, they are both young, but it’s simply no excuse.
HOLYYY YAPPP, before anyone says that maybe I’m too emotional or that it’s a fake story so chill. I just think it’s important to have this discussions because it’s basic media literacy. Again this is my take and analysis, and my thoughts on certain comments. If you don’t like it, that’s okay but if anyone wishes to discuss, I’m so down for it :]
