@Zzzz there were probably some contraceptivies in tea. Yes she want to have a child but not yet. The fire in the palace was like a warning from the duke that he can do almost everything, so she knows that he would try to kill the child, that's why she tries to protect the baby by not being pregnant.
I think she want to became empress then have a child so her and her child posision is seccured.
