I really dislike characters like the crown prince. It's not cute, it's pathetic and honestly a red flag. If you don't confess your feelings in a clear manner and continue to pine after someone for years... That's a you problem, it's not the other person's fault and you don't get to play victim once they've decided to progress their lives in a direction that doesn't include you. He BETTER NOT interfere in their lives
