It actually isn't tho. Comparing to other more irrelevante arcs, to Komi's personality development, this is just as important to the story overrall as her relantionship with Tadano.
It's pretty rare the amount of times we see her angry or being confronted by someone. I think this is an arc she needed. The arc that showed her she's not the most perfect being in the world as everyone around her makes her believe she is.
And bro... That beach scene with Kawaii... Are you telling you didn't at least get the chills?
As far as we know for now, she's saved Kawaii's life. This arc's been f***ing wonderfull!

it does make sense, this arc is good for komi's development but kawai's reasons are kinda ilogical idk, and yea the beach scene was so fvcking good, but i just dont know, maybe im misunderstanding a few things cause english is not my first language, but i'll give it a shot to this arc tho
