I really understand this man. People expect him to help her and possibly get close to her romantically, but the real question is, why is he supposed to do this? She keeps pushing the issue to the point of madness, and it seems to me that he doesn't even love her—he sees her as a child. Letting her do what she wants, as long as it doesn't involve him, is the least he can do. He's already burdened with all these tasks and now he's expected to solve the psychological problems of a child on top of it all.
