people here are using modern logic on some fantasy medieval world. The engagement was arranged by their families, she never actually wanted it in the first place. You also have to consider that most women are pretty sheltered before coming of age, so of course she wouldn't know how to properly interact with men outside her family, especially when they are literally doing whatever they want to her and act like it's normal behaviour

@Nightfury Blizzard Agreed. I feel sorry towards her fiance, but she doesn't reciprocate his feelings... Aside from that, he's also too controlling at times. He doesn't want to allow her her freedoms, such as pursuing swordsmanship. I get it, since it isn't appropriate for the time period, but as a reader, I would like someone more supportive of her, instead of someone often trying to stop her or stand in her way in order to protect her...
