Royals are gifted the power to alter their appearance (among other things cuz magic) but black hair and, I believe, gold eyes, was it? are the identify marks of pure blooded royalty. Therefore, how could she identify THE prince as the prince if he lacks his identifying features? If someone you knew since childhood always has super long dread locks all of a sudden shaves their head, puts on a suit and tie, and wears sun glasses, are you going to be able to identify them? all they did was shave their head and hide their eye color, after all x.x
