you hit the nail on the head. A lot of the creators who make money have to resort to appealing to their most dedicated fans (Unordinary's author has a patreon and dedicates quite a bit of effort to make promotional content to sustain herself) with crowdfunding
too bad there isn't a pay what you can/want model that works. Especially since currency isn't the same everywhere
you would think with how popular finance/business is as a student major, someone would have proposed something decent
