We've seen people cleave ships in half with blades and energy attacks but not with a well placed shot, if not a special bullet, imbued with haki, or a combination of all. That's another new gen sank by Shanks within a month btw. I'm hopeful he survives but if he's rescued, it'll pretty much confirm that Kid would also return which I don't like since I'd like some finality in this saga. There were a lot of deaths on the last chapter but it was easy to surmise that Garp would survive because we last saw him alive and he's too good of a hostage to just execute.
