It may be bad behaviour, however they also taught him to redirect his power to become useful as a black-knight. The lesson he learned was don't judge a book by it's cover, Marx learned that just as he was worried about his mana level being low and seeming useless, Will was worried about his overwhelming mana level and seeming like a monster.

@PapaDragon Punishment for the sake of punishment begets resentment. The true goal is correction of behaviour, which was achieved.
