@Antmrm shanks was on Roger's crew, clearly he knew something that roger might have learnt at laughtale, something that made him cry.  Shanks is repeatedly described as the child of destiny, he might have took it upon himself to help shape the future pirate king in stead of becoming the king himself like buggy would have wanted. Prophecy is heavily implied in one piece. shanks isnt just a wild horse, he just might have known what roles he had to play from that prophecy

My best guess shanks knew he had to steal the nika df from the hands of wg, that's why he meant to wb when he told him that he bet his arm to the future, aka luffy the goofball who ate the devil fruit

@Antmrm Shanks' dad is a CD. A commander of the knights of G** (by this time or sometime shortly after) therefore making him one of the most politically powerful people on the planet. Also insanely rich. Only people above Garling (that we know of at this time) are the Five Elders and Imu. If Garling wants something, no matter how crazy it might seem to someone else, the answer he's going to get is highly unlikely to be no. If he wants Shanks to be in the hierarchy of people with contracts with Imu, it's going to happen. As for who told Shanks about him being noble, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Rogers Pirates saw Shamrock and put 2 + 2 together. Remember, Roger went to Laughtale which probably had the WG SCREAMING, they would've sent out assassins on Roger's crew. Scooper Gabban all but said he's fought GK before and it wasn't at Gods Valley so the next possibility is that a GK had been sent after him.
