I don't like Garp's personality; I understand he didn't know Imu was on the throne. After the incident, he didn't do any investigation of his own to understand what the government and navy were hiding. He preferred to keep quiet and keep his vice admiral title, while his son had the courage to leave the navy to expose the government's secrets, starting from scratch. If he had Garp as the revolutionary leader, he and his son would have more strength and experience.

@Antmrm how are so sure that garp didn't do anything after this incident, like brother, we don't know anything about garp's life apart from that he is marine's hero and we only know of 3 past incident in which garp is involved directly (1) g** valley, (2) when shiki break out of impel down, and (3) from random spikey head bas**** (chinjao) or something told us about garp.

That's all we know about him. And i believe that we will get a proper flashback of garp's past in next arc or something. I firmly believe that Garp also had his reasons, Good or bad can't be sure, but cut some slack for poor guy.

Btw I also don't like the fact that didn't saved ace at Marineford
(Sorry for rant and bad English)
@Antmrm If he had just quit being a marine and left all his juniors and friends in that organization, they would have all suffered. Garp gave a valid reason. If he left, who will protect the marines??! Is there anyone with the guts to insult and oppose the celestial dragon and has the power to back it up?
The marine as we know would be even worst had Garp just left. Dragon wasn't that much of a big figure but if you really want to understand what happens when a strong figure, even if doesn't change the organization completely but has the power to protect others, leave then you should read "Hidden House in the Apocalypse"
@Antmrm Novice thinking. If that's what u think even after reading about him and the Old Gen then u don't really understand them at all. Rocks, WB, Roger all three of them had said that he is better off a pirate than a navy officer, and Garp knew that too but if he had left then the WG would have grown even more menacing. He also had to protect his officers, the navy from the tenryubitos influence and maintain a balance between Marine and Pirates. Just bcz there are some good pirates doesn't mean the others are too, u saw how Rocks crew betrayed him and how the rest of the pirates were only there to terrorise and loot. And if after that incident Garp had left then the people would have followed him as he was the great hero of navy and run rampaged in other countries. Some could have thought about why he left but most of them were just waiting for him to leave as Garp was a threat to everyone. And during then the G** Knights would have to move, making their influence and power grow much faster than it has.
@PORTOGAS D ASCE You're right...but I'm talking about pirates. I know they're actually terrible and unscrupulous people. I would expect this from pirates, not from a government that thinks only of itself, bullies and terrorizes innocent people, corrupts, and eliminates anyone who discovers the government's mysterious secret—that is, ordinary people and pirates. How can citizens trust the government to protect them from pirates if they do the same thing as pirates, but much worse? I know Luffy and many other pirates should live the life of pirates, not heroes.
