Wait hear me out but what if planche never hated his brother but instead found him pleasant but couldn't show it because of his mother and when his mom assassinated him planche tried to get the time axis to bring him back or to save him.....it's just a theory but think of it like at the horse show he said that thing to make the nobles doubt him, he sure as he** knew what it would bring and he even challenged his mom,and that knife wasn't thrown at his brother but instead at the maid,maybe his mom raised him to hate him hence the insults for him to stay away, he probably knew about his powers and always discouraged him so he would stay down and stay as not a threat but when he refused the poison his mom killed him because she knew that her son's position will be jeopardized if he realized his true power
