My point is that it is incredibly hard to judge how an author handles a dark or sensitive theme based entirely on the first chapter. You are claiming the author failed to research or is romanticizing a dynamic, but we haven't even seen the plot develop yet. A first chapter sets up a dark conflict; it doesn't mean it's endorsing it in real life. I just think it's fair to see where the narrative actually goes before deciding exactly how the author intended to handle it.
