Ah okay so I think the panels of her time period are representing their current conversation, the actual reality of it, and in a way the MC can relate it to and understand it (relating it to her time period). So, the woman with short hair says something, and the "flashback" shows what she really means and how the MC is slyly avoiding her provocations. I hope I explained it okay. Something like that maybe? That or someone identical she knows from the past and they had a similar conversation... But I think it's the former.
