Okay, I need to know why some novels taken place in ancient times, esp Chinese ones, tend to treat products, specifically make-up, as organic = safe?

That's just not true. Make-up used to contain toxic sh*t like mercury, lead, fe***, arsenic, etc. Heck cinnabar, which is basically in every Chinese novel, is a form of mercury!

So, just want to know why that's rarely acknowledged.

@ME Because people are not very curious and poorly educated in chemistry AND history, and don't know that OR that many, many organic compounds are highly poisonous, and people include authors

Very true. I attribute it to the "Back To Nature" novelization of the pre-induatrialization period. Making an appeal for how ancient times might not have the Modern Day conveniences (electricity, running water/plumbing, readily available sanitary products, and the Internet). FL's within these fictional ancient times were supposed to appreciate the simplicity of the Past using Modern Day knowledge - and if they were rich, servants 🙃.

In the case of This Webnovel/Manhua, it canonically works because the FL

has the OP Luck Power => Green Thumb and Modern Day awareness, in order to know what ingredients to avoid when she Makes her own cosmetics herself.

If you want a Webnovel which refers to the toxic attributes of ancient times cosmetics, you'd probably want 戾王嗜妻如命/Lì Wa** shí qi ru mìng/The King of Li loves his wife like his life/"Tyrannical Wa**'s Beloved Wife".

The FL comes from modern times and warns her pregnant (Aunt/Friend/Someone, I can't recall exactly) to avoid make-up and tea. This advice was in order to avoid exposure to Lead and Caffeine during pregnancy.

Other than that realistic aspect, ⚠️ Turn Your Brain Off ⚠️ for the rest of the Webnovel. 😅🤣 (As we all should do when reading fiction - especially CNovels).

I can explain That to you, but I cannot explain the reasoning for the issues within CNovel sm**. IYKYK 😬🙈
@May R lol, thanks for the rec, I'm  always wanting more trashy loooong stories to kill time. (Funily enough, this one actually goes above the bar because people can reason for the nost part, and don't buy any lotus act)
