That's the problem because sometimes they both are main characters but I guess it is easy to separate them like this.
So ML is ML in both straight and gay stories and bottoms refer as FL and MC.

@Vyllie_Night That is it. My friend was referring MC for both characters so I was confused about it back then.
And ofc it was new (here) back then, because before it, all people refer the couple as the uke and seme or top and bottom
