It's actually a good idea, altho she might not do it because it would cause a few problems for ML.

People already heard her play so it would be obvious she's playing badly on purpose and could be seen as an insult to the red haired guy. Even if they did believe the act rumors would spread about how incapable she is and how her husband must be a fool in love for encouraging her to perform in public when she was no talent.
