Comment on ChapterThe Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity - Chapter 122
I know that there's a cliffhanger here but I've just gotta make a comment on this. I've been meaning to do so for a while now. But hey, that's what a comment section is for, right?

The so called kikyo "teacher." To be spewing that kinda "do ur homework or fuc*** die trying" sh** to children in the midst of puberty? The whole "u better fuc*** study now or you'll be absolutely fuc*** cause there are no second chances" shebang? The "don't have fun and maintain dignity?" To be brainwashing kids and instilling prejudice towards other human beings as an adult in the role of one supposed to guide them? When you're in a position of absolute authority? (Whatever reason she has it's still deplorable no matter how you look at it.)

I know that this might be a question of personal experience or even a cultural difference between Japan and Europe, but if I had to hear that sh** at that age it would've quite literally killed me, nervous and depressed wreck that I was. The entire atmosphere in kikyo seems absolutely suffocating to me, even more so since many of those children come from "prestigious" households.

As a villain she's a wonderful character, but this manga isn't exactly the type to feature direct villains... I don't know how the rest of the lads and lassies in the audience feel about this, but I sure hope the author won't try to redeem her or even make us pity her, because to me she's absolutely irredeemable. Things might've been different if she had another position or job but as it stands...
You want one? I saved the pink one for u?

@Mooure it's because kikyo is a high society high school that you either get in by being in a very wealthy family or get in through a scholarship.
@Zoid I think that you're either misunderstanding my comment or I'm misunderstanding your reply. 😅

I'm making the observation that from the standpoint of morals what the kikyo "teacher" is doing is deplorable no matter how you look at it. It doesn't matter much to me nor the argument whether it's a rich people school or not so as it doesn't change the fact that she's using the position she holds to suppress and instill prejudice onto actual children. Even if the entire school is on board (which as you've pointed out seems to be the case) that only broadens the issue rather than to dampen it.

From an authors perspective: While as a villainous character she's got a great foundation with potentially realistic motivations as well as an "evil" agenda that directly opposes the main character and one that expertly serves to build animosity with the audience... This manga isn't one that seems to keep characters in classical roles like so but rather give them depth and change. (This is one of the best things about this series and one of the reasons it's an all time favorite romance manga for me.)

With all that being said... I was a bit frustrated with how the series seemed to tilt towards giving her some sort of redemption or at least understanding. (What with the slight smiles and her attempting to be supportive when talking about Kaoruko's future.) I'm not saying that author-kun/author-senpai can't do it as he's proven to be an absolute unit when it comes to portraying human emotions... But it will be difficult to the extreme to do so because of some personal experiences of mine.

(Whew, I gotta go touch some grass after this. Remind brain-kun that this is fiction.)
@Mooure i have a feeling the whole "brainwashing" thing or the way she treats students is based on her past. Could be she has a bad history with chidori or she has a bad experience in not taking lifes seriously. Or she could just be just that just a character solely made for the plot of separation of the school
@justanotherdude Yea true that. We'll probably get a lore drop within the near future.
@Mooure I read through all of what u wrote and da** you're right😭😭🙏 it's hideous to actually cause students to hate certain othe rstudents they're fricking kids let them chill a bit nd love their lives bruhh.... couldn't agree more with wht u've said nd even if she does get a redemption arc in the future....it won't make her any good of a person cz of all these years of hatred nd depression she must've sown in her student's lives
