A little kid gets a scrape yes you fuss over them a bit,beacuse it's little kid, an older teen, is expected to be able deal with a minor scape themselves and not raise a fuss. Now throw in she's supposed to have been raised as a commoner, not a precious princess treated like a hot house flower, her causing a scene over something that didn't even break the skin, is even weirder. He** the 'princess' got whipped worse regularly as a child and was expected to not cry.
