Ml probably experienced something in the past that's why he has a "bad" attitude. But for me the ml is not that bad if we compared it to other manhwas with the same genre. It still mild, maybe the author just wants to inflict some angst feeling or falling point feeling before the sunny days and climax. And tbh, I really love the art and the plot so calling it "why can't he just be nice" well duh it's not like you can just straight up forget and always be kind. Additional to that, isn't he being nice little by little like he's starting to like mc because of mc's overwhelming adoration to him.
Remember, we can't just assume that because they meet and bond a little they are close. It is school life for a reason. It's a little bit realistic, like try to put yourself in their shoes. Not saying take everything seriously in this manhwa but let's not forget the whole reason why we have critical thinking and wisdom.
