Maybe the uncle donated his sperm to his brother, who became the father of the twins. When the uncle found out they were twins, he wanted one of them to be his own son. After the twins’ father died, the uncle asked to take one of the twins. Or  It could be that the uncle was the biological father. He donated his sperm to his brother, who raised the twins as his own.
