Im trying to think in their perspective here, hence survival first- killing the guy would be the easiest solution...? To show prime example plus it's not like they will lose anything with his absence, he's not an important individual like a doctor or something right? It is drastic but maybe we'll see what happened to have driven them to that point in the future?
