The conversation shifts to Varya’s family. People start pointing out that her father always praises his second daughter but never really says anything good about Varya. They even compare it to something that happened years ago where another noble family mistreated their eldest daughter only for her to leave and later marry into a powerful family. That whole situation made people wonder if something similar is happening with Varya now. Rota thinks that there might be more going on behind the scenes between Phileo and Varya but she isn't sure. From what she knows Varya is just Leo’s teacher and nothing more and Phileo himself has said there’s nothing between them. But even so, it’s hard not to suspect that Phileo might actually have feelings for her.
During the banquet, Varya gets upset with Phileo. She worries about rumors spreading because of how he acted with her in front of others. But Phileo and Leo don’t seem to care about gossip at all. Leo even jokes about past rumors and says she almost killed people back then, though Phileo corrects her by saying she only scared them badly. Phileo apologizes to Varya in case his actions made her uncomfortable, but she admits she wasn’t upset but just surprised. Deep down, she actually liked it but feels too shy to say so 👀 Leo teases her, saying she enjoyed it, and Varya accidentally praises how handsome Phileo looked 😏
