All the unnecessary hate towards Jo speaks volumes about the haters' mental capacities. It's so sad to witness.  But yes the author decides the course of the story and ending at the end of the day. Imo, it could've been a great manhwa but she chose to be generic and that's okay.. no hard and fast rule.. We readers can't do anything about that. It was her choice.  She absolutely wasn't scared of the TJ stans' hate right?

@Bibiboopboop not every Tj Stan, including myself hate Jo. But some of us have been made to hate Jo because of how insufferable many Jo Stans are. 
I don't think Doyak was afraid of Tj Stans nor was she influenced by Tj's popularity to change the ending. 
 I'd agree that the ending feels rushed, but the fact that Ian loved Tj and couldn't easily let him go was always clear as day so his choice of Tj in the end isn't at all surprising.  T
