I'm not sure how you guys are seeing this but Ellie's not completely in the right. It's not survival of the fittest. Ellie is practically an adult. Obviously there are smarter options than setting someone up just to protect another from them. Not to mention, red head is still a kid. They ought to be correcting him and not giving him a taste of his own medicine. He won't understand it. He'll just become more irritable and have a bigger temper.
My point is Ellie could've handled the situation without lying and getting red head into trouble. He can't learn his lesson the way she's going about it because he's still a kid.
Anyhow, our male lead is cute so...
