But something's strange. If the larger church organization was truly more concerned about the donations from the corporation than the orphanage, why send the thugs to steal the deed? The church could order the priest to hand the deed over or be defrocked. The church organization could be holding out for more money, or the church orphanage could be on a site special/sacred enough the church won't give it up. (Until a change in leadership.). Or, the corporation is doing something shady being the church's back, and the goons' threat held no real power.
This "who has the deed, has the land" nonsense is why these days you have to file a copy of the deed with everyone and their uncle to do anything with a piece of land and the stuff on it.
