Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) is a Chinese novel that was adapted into a manhua. When it was released in China, because they have strict laws against LGBTQ+ representation (i.e. not allowed to show anything about it in public areas or in media) they removed all imagery of intimacy beyond platonic shows of affection from the comic. When it was released in Korea, however, they were able to show the more romantically intimate scenes (i.e. kissing and even the sm** scenes in later added chapters, though most of them remain as either unfinalized artwork or scenes drawn by guest artists)
It honestly never occurred to me that this series was also dealing with the same level of censorship. I just assumed the series was Korean so if it was being released in Korea there would have been some romantic scenes by now, but if it's actually a Chinese series then, yah, that would explain the constant qu***-baiting and close encounters that never directly show any actions. and that is really unfortunate. China needs to shape the heck up already!!!
