Ohhh. So the empress fell in love with saphirs mom but being so close to her put her on the emperor's radar and saphirs mom went to be with the emperor and had saphir. So the empress poisens saphir because hes a result of her assumed betrayal of saphirs mom and the emperor but saphirs mom gets poisoned instead trying to keep him safe so she continues to try to isolate saphir to make him suffer but doesnt want him harmed as he looks exactly like his mom and the empress is still madly in love with her and the only thing of her left after death. Interesting. Also puppy looked OFFENDED being called a pseudo dog 🐕
