@Her Okay first off I'm not offended at all
Also, buying a Monster print edition? That's a flex.
Now onto the real stuff:
1. 'Some gay readers enjoy r*pe as a fetish in fiction' okay that's... a lot.
2. 'If you have ADHD like me' GIRL. You waited until NOW to drop that?
3. The memoir-to-manga pipeline for Until I Meet My Husband is actually crazy. Like, imagine living through all that and then seeing it drawn as a manga? Wild. And yeah, Japan's marriage laws are still backwards on that. But at least we have creators like him putting real stories out there.
4. Your question about Manga vs Anime, hmm. I think manga has more creative diversity because it's cheaper to produce and less filtered. Anime has to go through studios, budgets, committees it gets sanitized. But anime reaches more people, so it feels 'bigger.' I'd say manga = more raw talent, anime = more polished product. But that's just my take.
Also... you asked if I think poorly written stuff is across ALL genres? Honestly? Yeah. Sturgeon's Law — 90% of everything is crap. Doesn't matter if it's comics, films, books, music. The 10% is what we remember. So when I say 'a lot of them are poorly written,' I mean it statistically, not like I hate the medium. I just hate lazy writing.
If you actually want honest recommendations with critical takes, I can try to put together a short list. But fair warning my taste might be trash to you since you're a film person
What's something you've watched recently (film or series) that actually impressed you? I'm curious what a 'film person' considers good.
Like girl nowadays we lack goodd shitss fuhh
