Isn't he the best theif or something. Shouldn't he be able to escape people other than the great 3. If he got a spot as 1 of ML in the og, then wouldn't he be as strong as the other 3? Also, y is he not capable of maintaining composure? I absolutely hate it, when they make a strong independent character weak and dependent on the ML as soon as romance comes in.

@BABY GIRL Iirc, he did mention that the "novel's system" has made him the main character so there's an actual in universe reason he's being turned into a damsel in distress. Like when the chandelier fell and the ladder broke.
@BABY GIRL Dude, he is called the BEST thief in the WORLD. That means he is agile and capable enough to escape from ANY ordinary people by any means. And if he was a ML, in terms of agility and ability to escape, He will be the best among them.
I understand him thinking it impossibke to escape the 3, cuz it's 3 against 1.
But these are ORDINARY PEOPLE, they are nowhere in par to him, he should be able to easily escape from them, if the system doesn't try to trip him over things he never used to trip over. BUT HE DOESN'T EVEN TRY.

@BABY GIRL ORDINARY people. Those are mages. If he takes is eyes off them while climbing or something, he won't be able to dodge in time if they use magic to pull him back or worse, mark him with a tracking spell
@chrome Honey, he has robbed places with heavy security, that is with mages and knights and magic spell that activates if not careful etc etc. It won't be beyond him to keep an eye on the mages and 'try' an escape, especially cuz they haven't spotted him yet, even if they did, if he moves fast enough they won't able to track him.
I am not saying he should succeed in escape, I'm saying, he, who as escaped from all kinds of places 'on his own', should be thinking about how to escape this situation with his own strength 'like he always has', and not to wait for some knight in shining armour.
The author nerfed his identity as never before caught very very experienced thief to a novice who is incapable of maintaining composure, always need somebody to rely on etc, downgrading him to someone who needs 'romantic love' to live on.
Ik the system will try to trip him, but had the author taken the fact that he is the greatest thief into consideration, he would've tried. Just like the way he might've tried anything to get out of very difficult places during his thefts. And if he fails, it's ok. It's not as if he is gonna lose out on anything had he tried.
@chrome There is no grand reason, I named it so cuz that's what came to my mind first. Y do u ask?
Also, what about ur user name? Y did u name it 'chrome?[I'm not tryna be passive agressive, I'm just curious about ur reasoning, cuz ur question made me wanna know y too]
