Ian keeps saying he wants to move on from gang life and live a normal life. Jo offers that but it is clearly not enough. I think Ian wants a gang free normal life with a specific person(TJ). Anyone could be in Jo's place and Ian would still not be satisfied. He could really disappear from Tj and live his life but he stays close where he'll always be found. I think that says alot. Just hope they all get happy endings we don't need any tragic end for the 3 main characters.

@Renesmee honestly It's not that easy, they are codependent and that's why it's so difficult for Ian to leave and for them to have a "normal" relationship, idk if they can work it out, but if they don't Ian has to either accept a life he hates or realize that Tj has changed and that he can't/won't give Ian the life he wants. It's kinda wrong towards Ian to chalk it up to "he can leave if he want's" cuz it's a complex situation. Also Ian has no identity outside of Tj and also has self sabotaging behaviour which is very sad.
@K no not really people cant normally  replace jo, jo is not just green healthy flag he is someone who loves and wants lan who committed homicide after a defense! There really aint that many people like that jo (normal life) accepting lan is a near impossible thing for lan and that's the whole change in lan, he wants to leave away from gang not tj from the beginning he wants to stop the obsession and be normal people who stayed for 19years because one:he never thought he can find someone other than tj to lean and two: he never knew he can start a new happy normal life that can be peaceful ...that's changing when he found jo and finding that he can lead another life not just leaving gang life.
sometimes we forget lan never tried to built peaceful life rather running from gang so, no it has to be jo's(unique personality traits )to make this change in hope which is why it's love triangle
